Why was the Cheetah that mauled the young girl put down?

I sympathize with the girl and her family but why must a wild animal that was probably taken from it's natural habitat so humans can make money using it to entertain be punished for it's actions (if anything, the company that forced it to deal with an unnatural situation it should be put down)....
