Dell laptop keyboard keys type different things then they're supposed to?

Dell inspiron 6000 keys type different things than what they're supposed to. It's not the common num lock problem i've read about either. For example the u key is left arrow, the . key is delete, I don't have access to any function keys or letters. Combinations of keys also work sometimes like if i press the m n and space bar it acts as the enter key. This problem just started out of nowhere and i can't figure out what's wrong!
